The specialized training program for judges adjudicating family and children’s cases, organized by the Judicial Training, Research and Information Academy in cooperation with the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), was successfully completed on October 8, 2026. The training was conducted under the project “Strengthening The response to Gender-based violence In Mongolia (2025–2030),” funded by the Government of Canada.
Over the four-day training, participants studied the principles and specific features of family court proceedings, interim measures and their enforcement, the involvement of child and family specialists, mediation, marriage, parent-child relationships, guardianship and custody, child support, adoption, and other key issues in family law.
The training also covered the national child protection system, the concept of restorative justice, the social and psychological development of adolescents, principles governing proceedings involving juveniles, international best practices, and considerations in imposing criminal liability and coercive measures. Participants further enhanced their knowledge and skills in investigating and adjudicating offenses and crimes related to gender-based and domestic violence, as well as in working with perpetrators, witnesses, and victims.
At the conclusion of the training, a discussion was held to exchange views on the topics covered, practical challenges encountered, and issues requiring further attention. Certificates were awarded to 216 judges from first-instance and appellate courts who adjudicate family and children’s cases.
