A delegation comprising representatives from the Supreme Court of Mongolia, the Judicial Training, Research and Information Academy, the General Council of Courts, the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection worked in Japan from June 8 to 12, 2026. During the visit, the delegation participated in a training program to study the operations and experiences of family and juvenile courts.

Within the framework of the visit, the delegation visited the Research and Training Institute of the Ministry of Justice of Japan, the Tokyo Family Court, the Legal Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Japan, and the Training and Research Institute for Court Officials. They observed the specialized family and juvenile court system, case management proceedings, court organization, and inter-sectoral cooperation.

Furthermore, the delegates held meetings with judges specializing in family and juvenile cases, family court probation officers (investigators), court clerks, mediators, and legal scholars. They exchanged views on strengthening child-friendly justice systems, implementing restorative justice principles in juvenile justice proceedings, improving cooperation with child protection agencies, and enhancing the quality and accessibility of family-oriented court services.

The training was jointly organized by the International Legal Development Organization (IDLO), under the “Strengthening the Response to Gender-Based Violence in Mongolia” Phase II (2025–2030), project funded by the Government of Canada, in cooperation with the International Cooperation Department of the Research and Training Institute of the Ministry of Justice of Japan.
