Dr. Erdenechimeg Dashpuntsag, Director of the Judicial Training, Research and Information Academy of Mongolia, who is currently a Visiting Researcher at the International Intellectual Property Law Research Center under the IP High Court of Korea, participated in the "2026 International Summer Seminar" held on July 23, 2026, and delivered a presentation titled "Adjudication of Intellectual Property Disputes in Mongolia."

International judges and legal scholars attended the seminar. During the first session of the event, Prof. Peter Tochtermann, Presiding Judge of the Unified Patent Court (UPC), participated and presented on the topic "Recent Developments at the Unified Patent Court (UPC): Landmark Decisions, Key Issues, and Practice Trends." Furthermore, international judges and visiting researchers from the Republic of Korea, the United States, and Singapore shared international experiences and practices in resolving intellectual property disputes.

In the subsequent session, Dr. Erdenechimeg highlighted in her presentation that while registered trademarks at the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia have exceeded 100,000, technical patents and utility models combined account for approximately 11,000 filings, explaining that this vast disparity directly influences the fact that the majority of disputes reviewed by courts involve trademark infringements. She also raised practical challenges, noting that the lack of a standardized statutory evaluation framework for intellectual property damages makes it difficult for plaintiffs to recover compensatory damages in civil courts.

At the conclusion of her presentation, she expressed her commitment to further deepening future cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the IP High Court of Korea.
