Training of trainers on family cases and juvenile justice has started

Within the framework of the "Strengthening the Response to gender-based violence in Mongolia (2025–2030)" project, financed by the Government of Canada, the Supreme Court of Mongolia, the Judicial Training, Research, and Information Academy, and the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) are co-organizing a Training of Trainers on Family Cases and Juvenile Justice from May 4–8, 2026.
Opening the event, N. Bayarmaa, Justice of the Supreme Court and Presiding Justice of the Civil Chamber, stated: "The decision to establish a specialized Family and Youth Court under the Law on the Establishment of Courts on June 5, 2024, marks the second time a specialized court has been established in Mongolia after 24 years a historic event. Previously, family and child related matters were handled through general civil and criminal proceedings. Today, there is a necessity to approach these issues from a brand new perspective focused on restoring human rights and supporting fundamental national development. This training is not only for acquiring knowledge but is also of exceptional importance for strengthening the foundation of the new judicial system and uniting judges under a single understanding and shared values".

Country Manager of IDLO Mongolia Charles Bolland noted in his remarks that the judges participating in this Training of trainers will play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability of the training system by cascading their knowledge and methodology to 250 judges and 55 judicial administrative staff nationwide. Additionally, Director of the Judicial Training D. Erdenechimeg, Research, and Information Academy, introduced the significance and unique features of the program and wished the participating judges success.


The training is led by Supreme Court Justice and Presiding Justice of the Civil Chamber N. Bayarmaa, Justices N. Batchimeg, B. Battseren, Ts. Och, and Kh. Erdenesuvd, along with Judge of the Circuit Court of Simplified Criminal and Civil Cases of the District N. Odontuul, Director D. Erdenechimeg, and Dr. U. Tuya (Ph.D. in Education). The program covers the following core modules developed and accredited by the Judicial Academy’s Curriculum Committee:
- Adult learning and training methodology
- Protecting the Best Interests of the Child in Family Case Proceedings
- Adjudication of Cases Involving Domestic Violence and Offences/Violations Committed by Juveniles: Principles, Approaches, and Key Considerations
- Family Law (divorce, custody, child support, adoption)
A total of 13 judges are participating in this session.
