Informal Meeting Held on “Enforcement of Foreign Court Judgments”

On September 22, 2025, the Judicial Training, Research and Information Academy of Mongolia, the Mongolian Association of Judges, and the Aichi Bar Association of Japan jointly organized an informal meeting under the theme “Enforcement of Foreign Court Judgments.”

The meeting was opened by Ms. D. Erdenechimeg, Director of the Judicial Training, Research and Information Academy, who extended her gratitude to the visiting representatives from the Aichi Bar Association of Japan. She emphasized that the meeting, held within the framework of mutual cooperation, is expected to be successful and make a valuable contribution to future collaboration.

During the meeting, Mr. Tatsuya Takishima, Chair of the International Committee of the Aichi Bar Association, delivered a presentation on the Legal Framework for the Enforcement of Foreign Court Judgments in Japan.” He provided detailed information on the prerequisites for enforcing foreign court judgments in Japan, the requirements for initiating enforcement proceedings, procedures for asset disclosure, and rules for obtaining information from third parties.

Following that, Mr. E. Erkhbilguun, Head of the Constitutional and International Law Sector at the Judicial Training, Research and Information Academy, presented on the topic “Legal Framework and Current Practices for the Enforcement of Foreign Court Judgments in Mongolia.” He introduced the existing legal environment, enforcement performance, challenges encountered in practice, and factors contributing to the insufficient implementation of such judgments.

The informal meeting brought together 16 attorneys from the Aichi Bar Association, representatives of judges from first instance, appellate, and supreme courts of Mongolia, as well as researchers from the Judicial Academy’s Research Center. The participants discussed and compared the legal frameworks governing the enforcement of foreign court judgments in both countries, engaging in a meaningful exchange of professional knowledge and experience.
