The Judicial Academy Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Development Law Organization (IDLO)

On November 27, 2024, the launch event for the “Judicial Cooperation and Transparency” project, implemented by the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), was held. During this event, the Judicial Training, Research, and Information Academy, the Judicial General Council of Mongolia, the Judicial Disciplinary Committee, and the Mongolian Bar Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IDLO to strengthen cooperation.

Within the framework of this project, several key initiatives are planned, including:

  • Conducting baseline and final assessments on the state of cooperation between civil society organizations and media institutions;
  • Piloting a legal assistance service within court premises to provide guidance to citizens;
  • Training 25 representatives from media organizations on legal frameworks, the judicial system, and human rights, as well as enhancing their skills in drafting case summaries;
  • Developing guidelines for the media on producing accurate, non-discriminatory, and human rights-centered reports.

This project, funded by the European Union, will be implemented in Mongolia from 2024 to 2026. IDLO aims to strengthen collaboration between civil society, media, and judicial institutions, thereby supporting judicial reforms, enhancing the rule of law, and increasing public trust in legal and judicial bodies.

Key stakeholders involved in the project include the Supreme Court, the the Judicial General Council of Mongolia, the Judicial Academy, the Judicial Disciplinary Committee, the Ministry of Justice and Internal Affairs, the Mongolian Bar Association, the Press Institute, and the Globe International NGO.
